Microsoft has tried much to integrate its services for desktop, laptop and smartphone users. While Windows Phone 7 and 8 gradually gained foothold in the market with the number of Windows Phone devices being sold increasing steadily, the story has not been as good for Windows 8. Recently there were screenshots released by Microsoft that indicate that the company is planning to release Windows 9 in the coming months. In the Build conference held in April Microsoft showed the new customizable start menu that has different set of titles and comes with various metro apps.

Another set of screen shots revealed by Microsoft show new set of Control Panel settings. In this screen shot one can see new PC settings along with the resurrected start menu. This will make the keyboard and mouse users stay more inclined towards the metro settings. The rumored Windows 9 has been codenamed as Threshold and could be released in the starting months of 2015. The latest rumors indicate that Windows 9 would be having multiple versions of SKU. One SKU would be focusing on the use of Keyboard and the mouse. This version would be created to make it easier to boot towards the desktop and make it easier to open the Metro apps. The industry experts also feel that Microsoft is focusing on creating a unified experience of Windows, Xbox and Windows Phone but it still cannot be confirmed. The tech enthusiasts still need to wait to know more about the rumored Windows 9.
